How To Increase Your Common Sense?

Thanks to the legendary Greek philosopher Aristotle who defined common sense as an actual power of inner sensation as opposed to the external five senses whereby the various objects of the external senses (color for sight, sound for hearing, etc.) are united and judged.

In an ordinary language, it is a sense which is available to all. Most of us are born with this innate sense. It's a good, sound and practical judgement based on our earned experiences. Throughout the day we use it in a variety of ways to accomplish daily tasks and activities. In fact, it directs all other vital senses during the whole day. If you consistently fail to use your common sense then you'll be forced to live with people having mental abnormalities. In short, you'll be taken to mental hospital if you really breach the extreme laws of it!

One day, by mistake, I was driving on the wrong side of the road and police caught me for violating traffic rules and Interestingly his first question was do you have common sense?. Apart from this, a general example for not having the gift of common sense is staring straight with bare eyes into the sun without realizing that it will damage the eyes or saying two plus two is not four! The list is never ending and we are all guilty of not using our inner sensation according to the demands of the situation.

There are no different types of common senses but the degree to which it is put to practical use varies from person to person. Some are gifted with higher levels of it that allows them to see the world in its total reality and some are not. People with a higher degree of it lives life sensibly by using it to its best possible advantage whereas others with a less degree of it often struggles. There is a saying which goes like this: "'common sense is not so common." It's true, but if you wish to increase this you can do so: by sharpening your mind saw, by improving your general understanding about the world, by committing yourself to stop repeating past mistakes and finally by exercising good choice for good results in any given situation can enhance your level of common sense. You need to remember this too that like success achieving greater degree of common sense is a journey and not a destination.
